Annual Renewal and Activation of the Cyprus Chess Federation (KYSO) Athlete Card

Following a previous decision of the Cyprus Chess Federation (CCF) Board of Directors, all chess players are reminded that the renewal and activation of the CCF Player Card is mandatory for participation in FIDE-rated tournaments, including individual and team events in classical, rapid, or blitz formats.

The Player Card can be renewed upon payment of an annual fee of €10 per player through the Federation’s website, specifically via the link: Player Registration Renewal. The card is valid from the date of activation until December 31 of the same year. According to the CCF Board of Directors’ decision, players are required to renew their Player Card by February 10 each year. Failure to renew the card by this date will incur a 50% surcharge, and the renewal fee will increase to €15 from February 11 onwards.

Upon payment, the player’s name will appear in the Active Players Registry for the current year.

For participation in any FIDE-rated tournaments, organizers are responsible for verifying the renewal of the Player Card. The Tournament Director is obliged to ensure compliance and the Chief Arbiter must check the final list of participants, disallowing any player without an active CCF Player Card. If a player participates in a rated tournament without an active Player Card, the tournament will not be submitted to FIDE for rating.

Please note that the registration fee for new Player Cards is €20, which includes the issuance of a FIDE ID. This fee also covers the renewal and activation for the current playing season. New player registration can be completed at the following link: New Player Registration.

We encourage all players to complete their Player Card renewal promptly to ensure uninterrupted participation in rated events.
