The Cyprus Chess Federation (CCF) is pleased to announce the Cyprus Youth Chess Championship 2025, an open event for all young players, both Cypriot and foreigners, registered with FIDE.
Event Details:
- Dates: January 10–26, 2025
- Venue: POED Hall, Nicosia
- Format: 7-round Swiss System
- Time Control: 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment per move
Age Categories:
- U8 (2017 and later) Open & Girls
- U10 (2015-2016) Open & Girls
- U12 (2013-2014) Open & Girls
- U14 (2011-2012) Open & Girls
- U16 (2009-2010) Open & Girls
- U18 (2007-2008) Open & Girls
Categories may be merged if fewer than six players register. Separate standings will be maintained for open and girls’ divisions.
Participation Requirements:
- Players must possess a KYSO Athlete Card (KYSO ID) for 2025 to participate.
- For players who already have a FIDE ID, the cost of the KYSO ID is €10. To apply for the KYSO ID, visit https://cypruschessfederation.org/kyso-id-activation/.
- For players without a FIDE ID, the cost is €20. This includes both the KYSO ID and the issuance of a FIDE ID. Players without a FIDE ID must register for one through https://cypruschessfederation.org/player-registration/.
- After obtaining the KYSO ID, players must complete their tournament registration through the link: https://cypruschessfederation.org/product/cyprus-youth-chess-championship-2025/.
Bye Requests:
- From rounds 1 to 5, players may request two half-point byes if they are unable to attend due to other commitments or unforeseen circumstances. Bye requests are allowed only twice during the tournament.
- Bye requests can be made in one of the following ways:
- On the registration form at the time of entry.
- By completing and submitting the written “Bye Request Form” to the arbiter at the event.
Awards & Titles:
- Trophies for the top three players in each category (Open & Girls).
- Medals and certificates for all participants.
- Special trophy and the title of 2025 Cyprus Youth Champion for the top Cypriot player in each category.
- 2025 Cyprus Youth Champions will qualify for the European and World Youth Championships 2025 with full accommodation provided by ECU and FIDE.
Entry Fee: €20 (payable online).
Anti-Cheating Measures:
