Chapter 1: Registration Terms and Conditions for Athletes in KYSO

Athletes from other countries who wish to join a KYSO member chess club and obtain a temporary athlete ID must first acquire a KOA Health Card. After joining the club’s roster, they can apply for registration in the foreign athlete registry maintained by KYSO.

  • Cypriot athletes bearing the Cypriot flag (CYP) must not be affiliated with another chess federation, hold Cypriot citizenship, and submit a fully completed and signed registration declaration within a specified timeframe. After approval by the KYSO Registration and Transfer Committee, they must pay the registration fee and obtain a KOA Health Card before being registered in the KYSO athlete registry.

  • If a Cypriot athlete previously belonged to another chess federation and wishes to transfer to KYSO, they will undergo a 12-month probation period without the right to compete in national team events or represent Cyprus during the evaluation period. After this assessment period, the athlete can seek final approval, except for cases determined as exceptions by the Committee.
